On Thursday, a video went viral. It was of two brothers who met at the Kartarpur corridor after a span of 74 years on Tuesday. They burst into tears after they come across each other.
The story
It was revealed that the two were Mohamed Saqqique and Habib alias Shela who got separated from each other during the time of the partition of India and Pakistan. Mohamed Saqqique is a resident of Faisalabad in Pakistan and Habib is a resident of Punjab in India.
Coincidentally, they both visited the Kartarpur corridor on the same day and met each other. As they reunite, they were seen hugging each other and bursting into tears of joy. Reports came in that they both thanked their respective Govts for making this corridor a thing and allowing two brothers to reunite.
They also said that the Kartarpur corridor will be witness to many more families meeting each other.
The Partition was indeed a painful event for many across both India and Pakistan, while many lost their loved ones, while some got separated from their families forever. But the Kartarpur corridor came in as a ray of hope for many such families across the two nations.
This holy Sikh shrine called the Kartapur Sahib was inaugurated in 2019 with joint collaboration of India and Pakistan Govt. It is located in the Narowal district of Pakistan. It is located at a distance of 3-4 km from Dera Baba Nanak in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India, and about 120 kilometers from Lahore.
