ATM dispensing money is a familiar thing to everyone but have you heard of an ATM that dispenses Idlis? Yes, you read it right. Bengaluru now has a different kind of ATM which is an Idli ATM.
Idli ATM
A video of a vending machine that pops out idlis in Bengaluru is going viral on social media. Called the ‘Idli ATM’, it works by scanning a QR code and is run by a start-up – Freshot Foodbots. Idli lovers can now get their favorite breakfast at any time of the day as the machine operates 24/7.
The video, which was posted by a Twitter user, shows a woman explaining in great detail how the ATM operates. The opening scene of the video shows the Freshot idli ATM outlet store. After directing the camera into the store, the woman demonstrates how to place an order. The idli is then prepared in the next 50 seconds and placed in a foil-wrapped container.

The woman says the taste of the food is also reasonably delicious after taking a bite. Over 470k people have seen the video and left a variety of comments. While some people were astounded by the technology, others had some valid concerns, such as how one might request additional chutney.

Why would you want to eat idlis like this when you can have them steamed off from banana leaves, instead?!

Idli batter spoils in 5 days even in fridge. If it's not sold and they don't replace the batter on time, people will get stomachache. Even if they are replacing it, they will have to throw away unused batter which is a loss. Same with chutney, etc. Profitable only if in demand.

Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer to eat from a decent kitchen than an automated vending machine..the ambience is of a clinic here
