An influential American Lawmaker has issued a statement against China’s aggression as he said that the United States will not subscribe to unprovoked premeditated military action to intimidate peaceful nations.
The statement came in the wake of China’s military aggression along the Line of Actual Control in the Eastern Ladakh region of India. Even as India is looking to disengage the situation, the Chinese forces have repeatedly provoked the Indian side. The violent face-off that took place of June 15th resulted in 20 casualties in the Indian forces. Congressman Ted Yoho, on Friday, came out with a strong statement against the Chinese. He said,
“China’s actions towards India fall in line with a larger trend of the Communist Party of China using the confusion of the COVID-19 pandemic as a cover to launch large scale military provocations against its neighbors in the region, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Vietnam.”
The Republican Lawmaker said that it is the right time for the rest of the world to come together and tell the Chinese enough is enough. He further said the United States would never stand for unprovoked premeditated military action to push a peaceful country into submission. He wrote,
“Now is the time for the world to come together and tell China that enough is enough.”
Extremely Concerned, says the US
Earlier on Friday, another Congressman Dr. Ami Bera who also happens to be the longest-serving Indian American lawmaker in the House had expressed his concern about the growing Chinese aggression along the Indian border. He wrote in a tweet,
“I encourage China to use its longstanding diplomatic mechanisms with India to deescalate the situation rather than force to settle boundary issues. While this is a matter between China and India, it is my view that increasing military forces on either side of the Line of Actual Control will be counterproductive and unhelpful.”
Earlier this month, the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Representative Eliot Engel too had expressed his thoughts about the Indo-China conflict and had said that the Committee is extremely concerned by the ongoing Chinese aggression. India and China continue to engage in a tense situation along the border as both the forces have multiplied their troops. The efforts have been in place to deescalate the situation.
