It was not long ago when a Cab driver had left a woman in the middle of a dark road refusing to take the proper route. Days after this incident, the Police have forbidden cab aggregators like Uber and Ola to take an alternative root from Airport.
A woman was forced to get off from an Ola cab
In a recent case, Raksha who wanted to go to Indranagar from the city Airport was picked up by Ola cab driver who reportedly drove off from an alternative route instead of NH-44. After requesting to turn around to the usual route, however, the driver refused to do so.
After a series of arguments, she was asked to alight the cab in a poor lit place at 3.30 am. She was fortunate enough as she had a friend returning home after having taken the same trip. She asked her friend to pick her up from the desolated place.
Raksha went on pressing the Emergency button provided in the OLA app, she reported that the customer service dint provides any help. “ I received a support call, but the caller placed it on hold, saying it would be transferred to the supervisor and then just hung up,” Raksha said.
Police Forbids to take alternative routes
On Monday, Raksha registered a complaint to KIA police about the incident. After that, Police said that they have asked cab aggregators not to let drivers take alternative routes like Begur Road once it gets.
“We regret the incident and suspended the driver after receiving the complaint. Security of customers is a top priority for us and we have taken several strict measures in this regard such as multiple levels of driver verification, 24/7 helpline, in-app emergency button to name a few.” an Ola spokesperson said.
“We are closely working with the authorities to further integrate solutions that will help create a safe and reliable mobility experience in our cities. We have shared the necessary information with the authorities.”
“As per the advisory issued by the authorities, we have issued strict instructions to all driver-partners to access the city only through the toll-road; any deviations will lead to immediate termination from the platform,” he said further.
