Potholes are a perpetual issue in Bengaluru and they become worse during the rainy season. But here is a city-based team that has planned to solve this issue, not just in India but across the country!
Who are they?
They are known as ‘Pothole Raja’. This team is set out to fix over 1,000 potholes in different cities by covering 15,000 km in 54 days. Not just that, they have also created a world record for the longest trip via an electric vehicle.
The team uses an automated truck machine to fix the potholes. This truck has a blower that cleans the road and then puts emulsion and tar. And with this truck, they can fix potholes in just five minutes.
The team had started their journey on February 4 from Bengaluru, and they have covered Mangalore, Ernakulam, Kanyakumari, and Pattukotai via Rameshwaram so far. Cities like Ongole, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Guwahati, and others are also on their radar.
With this journey, they are also creating awareness about the usage of an electric vehicle and the idea of sustainability. Co-founder of Pothole Raja, Sourabh Kumar said “Many think they cannot cover long distances with electric vehicles. We want to raise awareness that most cities do have charging infrastructure and if one plans the trip based on charging stations, one can travel far at a lower cost.”
