The Bengaluru police are aggressively searching for a suspicious man who triggered off an alarm while passing through a metal detector at the metro station. Immediately after the alarm rang at the Majestic Metro Station while the regular security check was underway on the evening of May 6, the man ran away.
Incidentally, the man seemed to be quite eager to join the staff at the metro station as he even offered money to housekeeping staff at this station for getting a job.
CCTV Footage Confirms A Device Under Kurta Triggered Alarm
According to the officials, the CCTV footage confirmed that the suspicious man was indeed hiding a purported device under the kurta that triggered an alarm when he passed through the metal detector.
The man, however, did not budge but tried to get inside the station through another entrance. According to a source, “Later, he tried to get in from another entrance but failed. When asked to open his bag there, he fled again.”
The top metro officials ever since then, are now constantly under stricter vigil across all the metro stations. The BMRCL chief public relations officer, BL Yashavant Chavan said, “We have trained security guards to contact local police immediately if they come across any suspicious objects or people.”
DCP Deputed Search Team To Locate Suspect
Reports indicate that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ravi D Channannavar has already recruited police search teams for locating the suspect. The police are probing the case from all the angles. He said, “We are trying to trace him. We want to know the reason behind his suspicious behavior.”
Police are also thinking that it can be a prank as well. But even then they are not ready to take any chances especially after the recent terrorist attack in the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo that killed over 250 people.
Last month, the City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar held a meeting with the owners of establishments that see a footfall of 500 people or more every day and asked them to get the CCTV cameras installed and follow the other protocol mandatory for standard security.
The security at the Bengaluru airport is already on high alert, especially after the Pulwama terror attack.
