Namma Metro recorded the highest ridership this Friday pre-Ganesha Festival. On a single day, the ridership crossed more than 4.58 lakh marking it one of the highest numbers in history.
Namma Metro made a new milestone
According to the reports, Purple Line recorded 2.49 lakh passenger while Green Line recorded 2.09 lakh respectively. The metro authorities made a revenue of Rs. 1.09 crore, 54.25 lakh (purple line) and 54.81 lakh (green line). The reason for this milestone is a long weekend holiday due to Ganesh Chaturthi.
Previously Namma Metro recorded 4.52 lakh passenger count in the event of the annual flower show in Lal Bagh on Independence day.
“We thank our commuters, who are our patrons in achieving these milestones and looking forward to serving them with pleasure (sic),” said the official tweet account of BMRCL.

A BMRCL official said the high numbers indicated due to the long weekend for Gowri Habba and Ganesha Chaturthi. “We had switched 22 of our 50 trains to six-car trains, while others still function with 3 cars each as usual. All trains will get six coaches by March 2020.”
