In an innovative idea, former cricketer Irfan Pathan has come up with an idea that has excited the cricket fans around the country including the senior congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
Recently, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, many of his fans demanded the cricketing body to arrange a farewell match for the former captain. The farewell match is generally conducted as a tribute to the athlete for his or her contribution to the game. While this debate was on social media, former cricketer Irfan Pathan came up with an exciting idea. He said,
“Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team?”

The Proposed Team
This excited many supporters of the game. Pathan further made a list of retired cricketers team that may take on the current Indian team. The team consists of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, and Pragyan Ojha.
Among many who gave a thumbs up for the idea was the member of parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor. He took to twitter and supported the idea. He said,
“Fabulous idea @IrfanPathan! Every one of you has been a hero for India. This would also be a great return to serious first-class cricket for the current lot, whose skills may have rusted under the #COVID20 #Lockdown”
