#BoycottAmazon Trends As Netizens Express Displeasure Over Amazon For Selling ‘Om’ Doormats

Calls for boycott of brands, movies, products, and campaigns have become a weekly trend on social media in the past few months. On Tuesday, a call for boycott featuring another big company was seen on Twitter.

Netizens expressed displeasure and anger over e-commerce giant Amazon for selling doormats printed with the spiritual symbol of ‘Om’.  As a result, #BoycottAmazon is one of the top trends on Twitter today.

However, most of the users are slamming a foreign website of US retailer for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus with their The ‘om’ printed doormats do not appear on the Amazon India website.

The doormat in question is a green coloured one with a symbol of ‘Om’ in white and green color combination. It was listed as ‘Yoga Lotus doormat, rear front door mat, absorbent mud entrance’ on a foreign version of Amazon with a price of 15.78 euros.

Screenshots of the product page have been circulated on Twitter and Facebook now.

Netizens urged people to boycott the Amazona and instead buy things from Flipkart. Some users shared screenshots of other controversial products and tagged Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in their tweets.
