None from the Theater Community were Recognized: Veteran Actor Raju Talikote Expresses His Disappointment

In one of his recent interviews with a Kannada News Channel, veteran Kannada actor Raju Talikote talked about a variety of topics, ranging from his experience during the lockdown to his professional life. The former Big Boss contestant also expressed his disappointment in a few topics.

Lockdown experience

Raju Talikote talked about his time during the lockdown in the interview. He revealed that a chunk of the time was devoted to agricultural activities. Apart from this, Mr. Talikote stated that he also spent time with his goats during the lockdown.

‘Film artists and workers in trouble’

A grant of INR 2000 was granted to film artists who failed to get work due to the stoppage of shoots during the lockdown. He felt that the amount was too low to survive for a period of close to nine months. He pointed out the fact that when auto-drivers and other sections were being provided five thousand rupees, it was a partial move to give less than half the amount to the film workers. He concluded that it was high time that the government rectified its mistake.

Plenty of projects in hand

Although skeptical at the start, Mr. Talikote said that with COVID-19 cases dropping, he has decided to resume his work in movies. He even announced that in the last few weeks, he has already completed a few pending shoots and dubbing work. Among the list of movies in hand, Ramesh Aravind’s ‘100’ happens to be the most high-profile project.

‘The Government could have made a better decision’

Talking about the recently announced Rajyotsava Awards, Raju Talikote said that it was disappointing that none from the theater community were recognized this time around. He opined that at least next year, someone from the ‘rangabhoomi’ must be awarded and appreciated for their contribution.
