To encourage people to donate blood, an eatery in Mangaluru presented complementary biryani to those who donated blood. The restaurant identified as ‘Utada Mane’, is a biryani lounge that provides this proposal to blood donors.
A noble causeĀ
Utada Mane put posters with a message -‘Eat What You Take, Take What You Eat’- on their walls. It said that they are working in partnership with KMC blood bank which also helps the restaurant provided complementary biryani to doner.
This blood donation camp is organized every year in the second week of February. It is when the restaurant campaign encourages people, especially students from nearby colleges to donate blood. This initiative was started six years ago.
Started six years ago
“It was six years ago when a man from North Karnataka has visited Mangaluru for his father’s heart surgery. He was looking for A+ blood. Soon someone brought him to me and asked me to help the poor guy. Understanding the situation, I immediately approached people for the necessary blood.” said Abdulla, owner of Uttad Mane.
“Two students in my restaurant were willing to do the job. Soon they were directed to the KMC blood bank where they donated their blood. I was happy that they listened to me, its when I gave them a complementary biryani,” he added.
