V G Siddhartha is No More: Condolences Pouring in for Coffee King Of Karnataka

The body of Cafe Coffe Day founder VG Siddhartha was found from the banks of River Netravati in Mangaluru on Wednesday. The business Baron of Chikkamanglur was missing from Monday evening from the road bridge between Ullal and Mangaluru over the river.

The body has been recovered

According to his driver, he got off from his car near a bridge in Kotekar on the Nethravathi River near Mangalore around 6.30 pm on Monday and did not come back. However, after an hour when there was no sign of him, the driver informed his family and the police about the situation. Since then, almost 200 policemen and 35 fishermen in boats started the search operation near the river as they speculated that Siddhartha might have committed suicide by jumping off the bridge.

After 2 days of a search operation, the police was able to recover the body 5km from a bridge across river Netravati around 6:50 am today. In fact, a fisherman had reported having seen a man jumping into the Netravathi river from the bridge on Monday evening.

Mangaluru’s commissioner of police Sandeep Patil had spoken to the media, “Around 6 am today we found a body in the Hoige Bazaar area and we are trying to confirm if it is Siddhartha. We have informed his family and we have also sent the body to Wenlock Hospital to complete formalities. Our investigation will continue.” Source

The son in law of former CM SM Krishna, wrote a letter to the CCD employees before he went missing. In the letter, he wrote, “I would like to say I gave it my all. I am very sorry to let down all the people that put their trust in me. I fought for a long time but today I gave up as I could not take any more pressure.”
