Reports have revealed that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar’s eldest daughter Aisshwarya will be marrying Amartya Hegde, the son of Cafe Coffee Day founder late VG Siddartha. The event is set to happen later this year. The engagement is likely to be scheduled around August.
The coming together of two influential families in the state
While Aisshwarya is the daughter of a leading politician from the state, Amartya is the son of one of Karnataka’s finest entrepreneurs. Amartya is also the grandson of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna.
Although DKS and SM Krishna are from rival parties in the state, both are said to be good friends. In fact, SM Krishna was in Congress while DK Shivakumar was growing in the party.
In July 2019, VG Siddartha committed suicide by jumping into the Netravathi river in Mangaluru. In his note, he had written that he had “failed as an entrepreneur” and that he is “solely responsible for all mistakes”.
Aisshwarya and Amartya
While Aisshwarya (22) is an engineering graduate, and is currently taking care of the administration of the Global Academy of Technology, Amartya Hegde (27) is managing his family business at the moment.
The alliance was on the cards even before VG Siddhartha’s death but Amartya wanted to wait. However, Amartya and Aisshwarya met last week and now the alliance has been fixed. The families may schedule the marriage-related ceremonies after the completion of one year of VG Siddartha’s passing.
