Bajaj Auto and cab aggregator based on app Uber launched quadricycles a few days ago in Bengaluru. So, the residents of the city now can book Bajaj Qute on UberXS from Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout and few other Outer Ring Road areas. The collaboration is planning to extend the services to other areas as well in the coming days.
Transport Department Yet To Fix Fares For Quadricycles
The transport department of the city has not decided yet on the fares for quadricycles. However, according to Uber, the base pricing of UberXS will be somewhere between the autorickshaws and UberGo fares. The Uber spokesperson said, “Qute is a driver plus three passengers er quadricycle, which is a four-wheeled motor vehicle that’s smaller and lighter than a passenger car. Qute comes with two fuel options: CNG and petrol, which provides a mileage of 43km per kg and 35km per liter respectively. This makes urban commuting more environmentally friendly and affordable.”
The head business development, Uber India & South Asia, Nandini Maheshwari said, “At Uber, we constantly work towards transforming the mobility landscape of cities, with technology at the heart of our solutions.”
According to the senior VP, Bajaj Auto, Samardeep Subandh, “Bajaj Qute is the first quadricycle of India. It will prove to be an ideal solution for traffic congestion and pollution arising from rapid urbanization. Qute is powered by a lightweight 216cc 4-valve water-cooled DTSi engine with closed loop fuel injection system resulting in higher fuel efficiency.”
He further added, “Qute’s low running cost makes it suitable for daily commuting and it’s easy to drive because of dash-mounted sequential shift gears. A turning radius of only 3.5m makes it easy to maneuver and its small size helps to park in congested areas.”
