Taliban Ask For A List Of Girls Above 15, Widows Under 45 To Be Married To Their Fighters: Reports

The women of Afghanistan are once again petrified to roam around freely or pick up a book as the horrors of the repressive and radical Taliban are back to haunt them in their safe havens.The dreaded group of fanatics recently got impunity to run amok on the streets as the US fades away into the setting sun of Afghanistan.Taliban reinforces its own Islamic Sharia law which was implemented before the US invaded in 2001 during Taliban’s regime.

Demands Are Rising From Taliban

The Taliban, fighting with Afghanistan forces to take control of a large part of the war-torn country, has issued a statement ordering local religious leaders to give them a list of girls over 15 years of age and widows under 45.It said;“All imams and mullahs in captured areas should provide the Taliban with a list of girls above 15 and widows under 45 to be married to Taliban fighters,” the letter, issued in the name of the Taliban Cultural Commission reported the demand.

Taliban’s latest diktat comes as it gains control of many key districts and border posts with Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan after US and Nato troops complete their pullout from Afghanistan after nearly 20 years.

During the time it ruled Afghanistan, the extremist outfit forced women to conceal themselves from head to toe, barred them from working outside their houses, struck down girls’ education, and made it a law for women to be accompanied by a male relative every time they left home.

One of the activist from Maiana,Afghanistan reported;“I’m worried that women could return to the dark days of the past when we were just housewives and banned from taking part in society, culture, politics, and even sport.When Taliban takes total control these things are bound to happen in no time”.

Afghanistan elders say the Taliban will take away their daughters and forcefully marry them and turn them into slaves. “Since the Taliban took over, we feel depressed. At home, we can’t speak loudly, can’t listen to music and can’t send women to the market. Clearly Afghans are in a state of intense distress with no one to help wandering in the heart of Middle East for help!
