Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency lands in trouble in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress has raised protests over Kangana Ranaut’s portrayal of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. They have even demanded that the film be shown to them before its release.
Kangana Ranaut as Indira Gandhi
Kangana Ranaut’s last film Dhaakad was a Box Office disaster, but she hopes to get back on track with the upcoming Emergency, a film about the emergency declared in India between 1975 to 1977. Kangana will be playing the role of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in the film.
However, the film has now landed in controversy in Madhya Pradesh. The Congress party has raised objections over Kangana’s image of Indira Gandhi and has also demanded that the film be shown to them before its release. According to the reports, Congress believes the film is an attempt to degrade the image of the former Prime Minister.
The controversy
According to reports, Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department vice-president Sangeeta Sharma has called Kangana a “BJP agent” and said that the role was taken to spoil the image of Indira Gandhi at the behest of the ruling BJP. Sangeeta Sharma has now demanded to watch the film before its release.
Reacting to the controversy, state BJP spokesperson Rajpal Singh Sisodia said, “Emergency is a black spot on the country’s democracy and Indira Gandhi was the heroine during it, and hence they need not worry.”
Recently Kangana dropped a video from the film’s shoot and shared, “Here is the making of the first look of my directorial movie Emergency, the first look took the nation by storm … thanks to my incredible team, every day is a dream come true … I have some of the best people in the world… Go team Emergency.”
Earlier, Kangana clarified that the film is not a biopic but a political drama.
Emergency marks Kangana Ranaut’s third biopic film after Manikarnika and Thalaivi. After the failure of Dhaakad, Kangana Ranaut is not just acting, but also directing and producing her next film, which looks quite amazing. She has even hired Oscar-winning make-up artist David Malinowski to make her look like Indira Gandhi for her new project.
