Upendra’s UI
UI marks Upendra’s 11th project as a director, and with this, he returns to helming a film after seven years. The 54-year-old also plays the lead in the film, which also stars Murali Sharma in a key role.
The film is jointly produced by G Manoharan (Lahari Films) and KP Sreekanth (Venus Entertainers). Art director Shiva Kumar, who worked in Vikrant Rona, KGF, and Kabzaa, has been roped in for the film.
In the latest interaction with fans, Upendra was asked to give a small inside detail about the film and what the audience should expect from it. The actor replied, “UI will be a new kind of movie. It will be my style of cinema and it won’t be a regular one. You have to scratch your head. And if you understand the movie then you will be a Superstar ”

Technology used in UI
Coming to the technology used in UI, Naveen Manoharan, the co-producer of the film, assures that the film will have technology used similar to Avatar 2: “One of the highlights in the film is that an entire sequence is shot in a virtual reality pipeline. This means that the shooting environment is virtually built in 3D and for the first time the makers can see the output while shooting the film. We are the first in the country to crack it. It is just like Industrial Light & Magic (ILM’s) creation, which developed a similar Virtual reality (VR) technology for Avatar: The Way Of Water’.”
Meanwhile, Upendra is the first Kannada actor to get scanned in 3D, using 200 cameras. Naveen claims that the film, with an estimated Rs 100-crore budget, will have over 14,000 + VFX shots, probably the highest number of such shots used in the Kannada industry so far. Motion capture, facial capture, and virtual reality are various innovative methods used considerably in the movie.
