Former Cricketer and Punjab Congress Chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu has made it to the headlines with his comments on PM Security Breach in Punjab. Along with Congress leader, Alka Lamba he has lashed out at the BJP in Punjab.
Sidhu claims that the PM’s security failure, more than the fault of the ruling Govt in Punjab was a gimmick pulled off by the BJP party in the state because they could not 70,000 people according to the arrangement made.
Sidhu says. “It is an attempt to save themselves from humiliation because it must never have happened that a prime minister addressed 500 people when 70,000 chairs were arranged (for the BJP’s Ferozepur rally on Wednesday).
Sidhu hit back at particularly at former CM of Punjab and a new ally of the BJP, Capt Amarinder Singh, and called him a ‘Parrot’. Capt Amarinder has repeatedly called for a President Rule in the state after the incident and the same was also called for on Twitter as well!
Sidhu pointed out the lack of people assembled in the rally shows the support of people that BJP does not clearly have and to cover this up, this whole incident was pulled off. Sidhu like the CM of Punjab Channi, maintained that there was no secuirty lapse from the side of state. The PM decieded to travel from Bhatinda to Ferozepur in the last minute and the decision was not conveyed at the right moment.
He said the onus of PM Modi’s security isn not entirely on the state police as 10,000 people are involved in the Prime Minister’s security paraphernalia, including officials of the SPG, RAW, IB and other central agencies, and the state police takes instructions from them.
People across Twitter have also questioned the fact the security failure in spite so much expenditure is a question tp ponder upon.
Mr Sidhu questioned, “why attempts are being made to spoil Punjab’s atmosphere when polls are approaching”.
Reminding the PM that he is the prime minister of the entire country and not only of those associated with the BJP, Sidhu said, “Everyone knows how precious your life is. But Punjab and Punjabiyat are being insulted when it is said that the prime minister has said (to thank Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi) that his life was saved. This is a big farce and I say this categorically.”
For those unaware, the convoy of the PM was left stranded on a flyover due to a blockade at Ferozepur, Punjab by the protestors. PM was here as the state is poll-bound. He returned without attending any event and this issue was a topic of debate and controversy for the people of the country.
