Hours after hundreds of farmers gathered at north Delhi’s Burari ground where the Arvind Kejriwal government allowed them to hold a peaceful protest against the new farm laws, Bollywood superstar Kangana Ranaut said the Centre should not allow anti-national elements to take advantage and create another Shaheen Bagh riots.
Kangana’s statement comes after more than 400 farmers from various groups and states shouting slogans, singing songs and carrying flags gathered at Burari ground.
Taking to her Twitter Kangana said: “Shame….. in the name of farmers har koi apni rotiyaan sek raha hai, hopefully government won’t allow anti national elements to take advantage and create another Shaheen Baag riots for blood thirsty vultures and tukde gang…”

The farmers, who are mostly from Punjab and Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, arrived in trucks and tractor raising
slogans such as ‘Dharti Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Narendra Modi Kisan Virodhi’ and ‘Inquilab Zindabad’.
While some farmer leaders gave speeches few farmers danced to drumbeats with ‘Hum Honge Kaamyab’ being played in the background.
In October, the Supreme Court had termed protests like Shaheen Bagh as “unacceptable” saying public spaces cannot be occupied “indefinitely”.
The landmark verdict from the top court came on a plea against anti-CAA protests which had led to blocking of a road in Shaheen Bagh in the national capital in December 2019.

A bench comprising Justices SK Kaul, Krishna Murari, and Hrishikesh Roy observed that public places cannot be occupied indefinitely.
Quoting the Bench LiveLaw said: “Dissent and democracy go hand in hand but protests must be carried out in designated areas. Such kind of occupation of public place for protests is not acceptable.”
Farmers are demanding the withdrawal of the three laws which deregulate the sale of their crops and they want a legal assurance that the MSP system will continue.
