Bengaluru Seal Down Update: Areas That Might Be Marked as ‘Red Zones’ in the City

With the confirmation about the lockdown extending beyond April 14th and the Prime Minister’s suggestion to identify regions as red, yellow and green zones, the people are Bengaluru city is likely to gear up for a seal down.

Kannada mainstream news channel TV9, on Sunday, reported that the government of Karnataka is likely to impose seal down in the city of Bengaluru following the spike in the number of cases in certain pockets of the city. Earlier, when the Bengaluru seal down news broke, the Commissioner of Police clarified that the seal down is only in two wards of the city but, as the situation grows grim, it is likely that at least two zones in Bengaluru will be sealed down soon.

The areas in Bengaluru that might see a seal down

If at all Bengaluru seals down now, it is possible only in the two zones, reports TV9. The two zones being – Bengaluru South and Bengaluru East. While Bengaluru south has reported 11 cases of the novel coronavirus, Bengaluru East has 18. The increase in the number of cases in Bengaluru has been witnessed more in these two zones.

According to the news channel, the areas that come under the Bengaluru East zone that is likely to be sealed down are – Sanjay Nagar, Ganga Nagar, Hebbal, Gangenahalli, Vasantha Nagar, Sampangi Ramanagara, Neelasandra, Agara, Jeevan Bhimanagara, CV Raman Nagar, Bennigaanahalli, Banaswadi, HBR Layout, and Nagawara.

Similarly, the Bengaluru seal down areas in South Zone might include – Vijayanagar, Deepanjali Nagar, Hosakerehalli, Kumaraswamy Layout, JP Nagar, BTM Layout, Koramangala, Hombegowda Nagar, and Sudhamanagara.

It is being reported that a part of the reason the seal down will be imposed is because of the lack of cooperation from the public for the lockdown. The Bengaluru seal down, if it happens, will come with stricter rules which will be followed with more tests. This move is seen as a method to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

Bengaluru currently stands with 68 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus and is the highest in the state followed by Mysore with 47. The state stands at 215 cases in total with 39 recoveries and 6 fatalities.
