CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Inaugurates Andhra Pradesh’s First Disha Police Station

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday inaugurated the first Disha Police Station in the state. The special Police Stations are pattern stations that aim to provide rapid justice for female victims of Sexual assault, harassment, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.

Disha Police Station to help women in distress situations

At 10:30 pm the CM inaugurated the police station in East Godavari district. After interacting with officials, the Chief Minister will address the Disha workshop and police officials of all the 18 Disha police stations being set up across the State.

According to the sources, the new police station will have a counselor, mobile kits to collect medical and scientific evidence, and caretakers to help the victims who come to the station.

Special training will be given for the staff appointed at the stations regarding, they will learn how to deal with cases of violence against women and other counseling techniques.

Quick justice for the victim 

There is also an app that is launched for women, the Disha App, which helps women and girls in trouble reach the police within minutes.

Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Pilli Subashchandra Bose, Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop, other ministers, MPs, MLAs, DGP D. Gautam Sawang, and others also attended the inauguration program.

“Disha police stations will deal exclusively with women’s issues and all their problems will be solved within 21 days from the day of the incident. To ensure justice and instill confidence among women, the government brought the Disha Act following which case proceedings will be completed in just 21 days after the incident is reported,” said the top cop.

He also informed that police officials of different forces will also be appointed at every Disha police station. Special labs and separate public prosecutors will also be appointed for the analysis process, he added.
