Twitterati decodes the reason behind actress Deepika Padukone’s visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Netizens share an old video of her interview with Doordarshan News in 2010 which is worth a look.
Deepika in JNU criticized
Deepika arrived at the university campus around 7.40 pm and attended a public meeting, declared by JNU Teacher’s Association and JNUSU in reply to Sunday’s attack on students and teachers by masked goons armed with sticks and rods.
Soon after the report of Deepika making an appearance at JNU broke, social media was divided into two divisions. On one hand, people praised the actress for having taken a firm stand and condemning the attack on students. While a few of them slammed her on supporting the protest.

Twitter users who were apposing the actress visit to JNU, feel that they have decoded a reason behind her unexplained move. Netizens take us a decade back interview that was telecasted on Doordarshan News, where she is reportedly seen encouraging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The actress had told a news channel in 2010 that she hopes that Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi will become a Prime Minister one day. She had said, “I don’t understand much about politics. But from whatever I notice on TV, whatever Rahul Gandhi is doing makes him a classical example for the youth. Hopefully, he will be Prime Minister one day.”

On being asked if she was sure to see Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister? She said, “Yes, of course.”
“I think he relates very well with the youth. His views and vision are traditional, but at the same time, he has a futuristic appearance. I think this is very crucial for our country,” Deepika told Manoj Tibrewal Aakash while appearing on the show Ek Mulaqat.
