Research has found that- if a person works for more than 52 hours a week may face hair fall twice as quickly.
Long working hours can cause you troubleĀ
Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea, has reported the negative effects of long working hours on various health problems. One of such is the hair fall problem, the main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between long working hours and the development of alopecia among Korean Male workers.
The test was implemented on 13,300 workers to see if they had the alopecia development which caused hair to fall due to long working hours. Dividing them into 3 groups, Scientists found out that men who work for more than 52 hours a week lost their hair at twice the speed compared to men who work for 40 hours or less.
The workers categorized into three groups- normal working hours (40 hours/week), long working hours (40ā52 hours/week), and much longer working hours (52 hours/week). Multiple logistic regression analyses were factored with adjusting age, marital status, education, monthly household income, smoking, and work schedule within strata of the covariates.
Other health outcomes
The scientists have also discovered various other health outcomes caused by long working hours; weight gain, fatigue, injuries, and musculoskeletal diseases. They also reported psychological problems to be associated with long working hours: stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
The study also informed that regular physical exercise would help the worker fight hair fall during his long working hours.
āOur findings suggest that unintentional development of alopecia is another potential health consequence of long working hours among male workers. Preventive interventions to promote appropriate and reasonable working hours are required in our society,ā said a statement.
