Vijay Sethupathi to be a part of Shivanna’s Ghost? Director responds

After Shiva Rajkumar did well with ‘Vedha’, the next focus and attention of the audience is on his upcoming ‘Ghost’ directed by Srini. The team has now approached Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi for an important role in the film.

M.G. Srinivas’ Ghost has been the talk of the town for many reasons. On the one hand, the film feature Shiva Rajkumar and he will become the very first Kannada actor to undergo digital de-aging, a process that has been effectively used in many Hollywood and Indian films like The Irishman, Gemini Man, and Laal Singh Chaddha.

On the other hand, Ghost has been in the news for having roped in the very popular Malayalam actor Jayaram and well-known Hindi actor Prashanth Narayanan for two crucial roles in the film, the makers also brought Anupam Kher for another key part in Ghost. And if this wasn’t enough, reports began to emerge saying that the much sought-after Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, too, will be part of the cast.

According to sources close to the film, the team approached Vijay several times and the actor responded positively. Final modalities, including dates, are being worked out and the team is likely to make an official announcement in March.

In the latest interview, MG Srinivas, director of the film, spoke to the media about the updates regarding Vijay Sethupathi. He said, “We sent him the script, and he did read all of it. He also checked who is producing and directing the film. He went through the script for his role in the film. He contemplated the outcome of the film. So we will have to wait for his official confirmation.”

Meanwhile, Ghost is not Vijay Sethupathi’s first Kannada film! Even before making it big in Kollywood, Vijay had acted in the Kannada film, Akhaada. Filmed in early 2008, Vijay plays a negative character in Akhaada. The film, however, did not see the light of day and was finally released in Hindi on YouTube in 2019.
