Top Jaish-E-Mohammed Leader Sajad Nawab Killed In Kashmir Encounter

As per the latest reports coming in from Kashmir, top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Sajad Nawab Dar has been neutralized by the security forces in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir today.

The encounter started today

A senior security force official revealed that the encounter started in the wee hours of Wednesday. He said:

There was a tip-off on the presence of militants and an encounter was launched in Sopore by security forces late last night (Tuesday). The terrorists opened fire and the encounter is underway.

Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operations Group of the J&K police personnel are engaged in the gun battle. Around four militants are said to be located in the area.

The encounter is said to be still happening, as the official disclosed the news about the death of Sajad Nawab Dar.

This is the second such incident in the last week

A few days ago, on Saturday, a similar event was witnessed in the Kulgram district of Jammu & Kashmir. In this incident, as many as 3 terrorists belonging to the pro-Pakistani outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Group were killed in a joint operation between Kashmir Police and Security Forces. The operation was launched based on a solid tip-off regarding the exact location of the terrorists.

The group of three terrorists had been involved in civilian killings for 12 days. Four people had lost their lives due to terrorists from the Hizbul group.
