A Kashmiri Pandit government employee was shot dead by terrorists inside his office in the Chadoora area of Budgam district in Kashmir. This incident comes in amid leftists arguing that genocide is a fake story.
Kashmir Hindu killed by terrorists
The incident occurred on Thursday when two terrorists entered Tehsil office in Chadoora and shot Rahul from close range. He was critically injured in the firing and was shifted to Srinagar hospital where he succumbed.
Rahul Bhat was a citizen of Jammu’s Durga Nagar. He was in his early 30s and is survived by his parents, wife, and daughter. Rahul Bhat had got the job of a clerk under the special employment package. He used to live at Budgam’s Sheikhpora migrant colony.
Meanwhile, Rahul Bhat’s family drowned in sadness over the cold-blooded murder and remain inconsolable with tears continuously rolling down their eyes. His family members including his mother, father & uncle, all are demanding justice for their deceased son while also lashing out at the administration for a slack security mechanism.
“There was no security arrangement in the office. We demand an inquiry from the government. We had earlier written to the government for the transfer of our son, but nothing happened,” his father said. His mother kept crying copiously over the sudden tragic death of her son. All she could say was ‘I don’t know what happened… I have no idea.’
Kashmiri Pandits being targeted
This is not the first incident of Kashmiri Pandits being targeted in the valley. Early in April, terrorists attacked a Kashmiri Pandit identified as Bal Krishan in Chotigam village of Shopian district, leaving him injured. The attack was followed by violence against two other laborers from Bihar, Patlashwar Kumar and Jakku Choudhary in Lajoora village of Pulwama district.
The Kashmir conflict has been as old as India’s struggle for freedom. It is a sensitive topic for all Indians. Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has been crowded with controversy right from the time it was released. The movie brings to the forefront the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits living in the valley in 1990.
With this, some have criticized and have called this movie baseless. Many political leaders and celebrities had condemned the film. They have accused the filmmaker of showing false things and playing with the facts. This however is an attack on every individual’s right to freedom of speech and expression. And the ongoing situation in Kashmir is proof of whatever happened to Kashmiri Pandits in the valley in the 1990s.
