Ramya Accuses Karnataka Congress Social Media Team Of Targeting Her After Taking Dig At Shivakumar

In a series of tweets posted on Thursday, actor and former Congress MP from Mandya, Divya Spandana ‘Ramya’, alleged that she has been trolled and abused by some party members in Karnataka.

Ramya targets Karnataka Congress

Sandalwood actress and former Congress leader Ramya on Thursday asked Congress leader KC Venugopal to clear her name in the media regarding reports which said that she had tricked the Congress of Rs eight crore when she quit the national party. She further stated that she didn’t run away and resigned from the party for personal reasons and claimed that the story was planted to discredit her credibility.

“After I quit, ‘she duped the congress of 8 crores & ran away’ was planted in the news esp Kannada channels in an attempt to destroy my credibility. I didn’t run away. I resigned for personal reasons. I certainly did not dupe the party of 8 crores. My mistake was staying silent,” she Tweeted.

The story

It all began with Spandana’s response to Congress state chief D K Shivakumar’s statement that Karnataka Higher Education Minister C N Ashwathnarayan had met Congress leader M B Patil, “seeking protection” from being questioned on public platforms in the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment scam.

A day later, Spandana issued a tweet criticizing Shivakumar, saying: “People across parties meet each other, go to functions, some even get married into families — I’m surprised @DKShivakumar would say this about @MBPatil who’s a staunch congressman. Shouldn’t the party be fighting elections as one [email protected].”

Spandana claims that in the wake of that tweet, she has been trolled and abused. Sharing some of the images, she said, “So the ‘office’ has circulated these messages among the congress leaders & volunteers asking them to troll me. Save yourself the trouble — I’ll do it myself.”

She described ‘office’ as the Karnataka Congress under the leadership of Shivakumar. And tweeted: “Humble request to @kcvenugopalmp (KC Venugopal, AICC general secretary) to please clarify with the media about this whenever you’re in Karnataka next. The least you can do for me Venugopal Ji, so I don’t have to live with this abuse and trolling for the rest of my life.”

Shivakumar said: “I don’t know any of this. Patil is a senior leader and head of the campaign committee. Ramya is a former MP. Both are people known to us. I don’t know if there has been a misunderstanding anywhere.”
