FIR was registered against Aman Chopra for allegedly giving false and fictitious details over the demolition of temples in Alwar. Amid this, at least ten Rajasthan police officials had assembled outside the journalist’s residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida to arrest him.
FIR against Aman Chopra
A team of Rajasthan Police is in Noida in Uttar Pradesh to arrest TV journalist Aman Chopra for allegedly promoting hatred between different groups and hurting religious sentiments, a report said.
According to Dungarpur Kotwali police station, an FIR was registered against Chopra by a man alleging that the journalist gave false and fictitious details by showing that the demolition of a temple in Rajgarh of Alwar district was done by the Rajasthan government as an act of revenge following the demolition drive in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.
Rajasthan High Court
Three FIRs have been registered against Chopra, including in Bundi, Alwar, and Dungarpur districts, under various sections pertaining to sedition, outraging religious sentiments, and promoting enmity between two groups and under the IT Act on April 23.
The journalist got a stay from the Rajasthan High Court on his arrest in two FIRs registered against him in Bundi and Alwar districts, but is facing an arrest warrant following a local court order in Dungarpur district, police said.
“Our team is camping in Noida and searching all possible locations to trace him. Yesterday, also our team went to Chopra’s house but he was not found there and his residence was locked, Dungarpur SP Sudhir Joshi said.
During his show on the demolition of temples in Alwar, Aman Chopra brought up the anti-encroachment drive held in Jahangirpuri recently and wondered whether the action in Alwar was revenge for the drive-in Jahangirpuri. Following the show, a collaborative hashtag was run on social media urging authorities to charge Chopra for trying to link the two drives, this provoked the authorities to register cases against him.
Following demands by Congress party supporters, the Ashok Gehlot-led government seems to have sent a large contingent of the police force to arrest journalist Aman Chopra.
If India really wishes to have journalists like #AmanChopra and the media houses really respect their freedom to expose/show truths, then one should support Aman Chopra and demand him to be freed!! #IStandWithAmanChopra pic.twitter.com/N5ej5rnleL

While I'm against the state overreach in such cases, here #AmanChopra rightfully deserves to face some music. His shows are nothing more than a platform for dangerous hate speech. His reporting of the Rajasthan temple demolition news cuf've easily flared up and led to riots. https://t.co/o2fwjW3UYF

If #AmanChopra & #TajinderBagga have arrest warrants against them, why no arrest warrant against Rajdeep Sardesai for inciting farm protesters by falsely claiming that a farmer was killed in police firing on Jan 26, 2021? 400 policemen were seriously injured. Isn’t he answerable?

Simple Q, did #AmanChopra check with Raj Govt before making certain claims? Times Now lost a case against me for the simple reason that they didn't contact me before hurling accusation. All you BJP anchors remember this. Corroborate your story from both sides. Journalism 101.
