A translator who assisted Rahul Gandhi at a recent rally in Karnataka has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Not sure about the Congress Party, but Wayanad MP’s speeches are a gift that keeps on coming.
Rahul Gandhi lost in translation
Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar hugged party veteran Siddaramaiah on his 75th birthday in a public show of unity on Wednesday, prompting Rahul Gandhi to express happiness. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have been considered front-runners for the Chief Minister’s post in the event of Congress coming to power after Assembly elections, due in April-May next year.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, who is praising the duo and trying to share a story that happened between him and the pair Shivakumar, and Siddaramaiah, his translator goofs up totally. The mistake was not Rahul’s — the translator who repeated the story did some…editing.
Here’s what happened:
Rahul Gandhi: I remember going with Congress leadership Siddaramaiah Ji and Shivakumar Ji to the Indira Canteens.
Translator: In Karnataka under the leadership of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, will once again bring such programs for the welfare of the people.
Rahul Gandhi: We had delicious food there.
Translator: While being in the power, we provided children with healthy and delicious food.
Here’s the video:
Never ending story of wrong translation, good comedy show to people of #karnataka. Why does @INCKarnataka make @RahulGandhi as pappu everytime when he comes to Karnataka? @siddaramaiah might have forgotten to tell the contribution made by @narendramodi govt on #AnnaBhagya scheme pic.twitter.com/TR2zfc3Y9i
