Prime Minister Narendra Modi in parliament today announced the government’s decision to set up a temple trust to build the Ram temple at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. The decision comes just four days before the three-month deadline which was fixed by the SC to establish the trust.
Prime Minister on trust formation
Last year, in November, the Supreme Court took a historic decision to give away the disputed land to the Hindu community. According to the court’s verdict, the Ayodhya land belonged solely to Lord Ram Lalla.
The Court had also ordered the central government to form a strategy with necessary preparations for the setting up of trust with a board of trustees or any other appropriate body.

Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra
‘Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra’ will be authorized to make all decisions related to building a grand temple at Lord Ram’s birthplace and related interests, PM Modi told the Lok Sabha among thumping of tables by the ruling alliance MPs.
“We have taken another important step for Ram Mandir pilgrims. We are allocating over 67 hectares of land near the mandir area to the trust… We want people of all religions and communities in India to thrive,” he added.
“I have come before you to give information on a very important and historic topic. This issue, like crores of people, is close to my heart and consider it my luck to speak about this subject. This is connected to Ram Janamsthan Bhoomi and the construction of a grand temple at Ayodhya,” he said, to desk-thumping and shouts of “Jai Shri Ram” in the Lok Sabha.
PM Modi also announced that the Uttar Pradesh government had agreed to give five-acre land to the Sunni Waqf Board as directed by the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya case.
