Twitter has changed its iconic blue bird logo to mock the logo of a popular cryptocurrency – an image of ‘doge’, a shiba inu dog that featured in many viral memes over the years. Netizens can’t keep calm.
Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo is gone
Twitter changed the logo to a Dogecoin on its website for no evident reason. Twitter CEO Elon Musk changed the iconic blue bird logo with the “doge” meme of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. However, there was no change in Twitter’s mobile app. Soon after the change, the value of Dogecoin skyrocketed briefly pushing its price to more than $0.10 for the first time in months, reported Forbes.
Twitter users discovered on early Tuesday that they were greeted with the Shiba Inu logo instead of the Twitter bird logo when logging onto the platform. The micro-blogging platform owner Elon Musk, in his trademark style, noted the change by posting a meme.
Believing April Fools’ day went by around three days ago, this could very well be a late April Fools’ day prank. Yet, the move came after Musk appealed to a US judge to dismiss a $258 billion racketeering lawsuit accusing him of operating a pyramid scheme to support the cryptocurrency Dogecoin. Multiple lawsuits have been filed in response to Musk’s tweets on Twitter, which he owns.
