Mumbai Police is in process of issuing fresh summons to actress Kangana Ranaut to record her statement in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. A team of officials from Bandra Police Station visited Kangana’s Khar Gymkhana home with a summon copy on July 3.
Sources revealed a staffer working for Kangana Ranaut, who identified herself as Amrita Dutt, met the police team and informed that the actress was out of town. The police team then asked her to accept the summons and inform the actress to join investigations on the said date.
However, according to sources, Amrita Dutt refused to accept the summons after which the police officers requested her to share the email address and current contact details of the actress. Amrita Dutt refused to give that information as well. She was asked to come to the police station on July 4 but she didn’t comply with that.
Since then the police team had been trying to reach Ranaut and finally managed to reach her sister Rangoli Chandel, who is also her manager, over the phone. The team requested her to ask Kangana Ranaut to join investigations in Mumbai.
On Wednesday, a twitter handle @Teamkanganaranaut tweeted, “There is no formal summon sent to Kangana. Rangoli keeps getting casual calls from the cops for the past 2 weeks. Kangana wants to record a statement but we don’t get any response from @mumbaipolice. Here’s a screenshot of message Rangoli Ji sent to @mumbaipolice (sic)

The screenshot shared was of messages exchanged between one of the officers from the investigating team. In the message, the police officials stated that they can’t come where the actress was presently residing as they were busy with the investigations going on.
Chandel then shared the details of her lawyer and also asked the queries to be sent for the response. The message read, “Dear sir, as we spoke today, kindly send us the questions you want to ask Ms Kanagana Ranaut so that Ms Kanagana Ranaut can record her statement accordingly. Mr Ishakaran Bhandari is our lawyer and his number is ….., anything you need you can call our legal team Also they will help you with everything you need from our side. We want justice for Sushant Singh Rajput and we will cooperate you in every possible way!!! Ms Ranaut is more than willing to record her statement once we receive the questions from your side. Thank you in advance!!! (sic).”
The actress, according to sources, was in her native state of Himachal Pradesh.
Ranaut had recently alleged that filmmaker Karan Johar declared Sushant Singh Rajput a flop star and ensured that his film Drive didn’t release in theatres. The actress added that Johar had done this to help his childhood friend Aditya Chopra who wanted to destroy Sushant’s career.
The actress after Sushant’s death had also alleged that the late actor was a victim of nepotism prevalent in Bollywood.
The police team investigating the case has till date recorded statements of over 39 people which include family friends, co-workers and staffers, Aditya Chopra, chairman of YRF, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, film critic and journalist Rajeev Masand, and a few other Bollywood journalists. Meanwhile, few more Bollywood personalities could be summoned soon in the case for questioning who had worked or had been in talks to work with the late actor.
