Proud moment for the country, India’s very own Mary Kom has been named as Asia’s best Athlete by Asian Sportswriters Union. Alongside, the Indian Female boxer, in the men’s division South Korean footballer Son Heung-Min has been named the best Asian Athlete.

The respected award was presented during the 22nd edition of the Asian Sports Press Union Asia (AIPS) award ceremony program in Malaysia. 30 countries took part in the contest.
The meeting held from August 26, 2019, to August 28, 2019, was known as AIPS Asia Congress 2019. The Indian athlete recently won the gold medal in the 51 kg category event of the 23rd President’s Cup in Indonesia. She also won the gold medal at the Second India Open Boxing Championship in Guwahati.

Other awards
South Korea footballer Son Heung Min was awarded Asia’s Best Male Athlete award of Asia at the function. He is one of the top Asian footballers who is also paying for the European football clubs.
Additionally, the best men team of Asia was given to the Qatar National Football Team and the best women team was given to the Japanese Women National Team.
