Israel, our choice for this summer’s vacation. Why? Because it is small but has a huge range of activities to contemplate, for all ages and tastes. Here are a few things you can do if you want to take a trip to Israel this summer.
Watersports
FLOAT ON THE DEAD SEA
Travelling can take a toll on us physically and mentally. Stress over canceled flights, overcrowded airports, lost documents, all takes a toll. Go to the Dead Sea, the ultimate place to chill out and be calm. The perfect place to take that photograph reading a book and floating in the warm sea, smeared in the mineral enriched Dead Sea mud. A great way to start your holiday, relaxed and peaceful.
POOL OF ARCHES, RAMLA
Flowing on to the Pool of Arches in Ramla, the underground lake was built in 789 AD. We loved taking a slow row under this wonderful piece of ancient Moslem architecture, marveling at the history it beholds.
SNORKELING IN THE RED SEA
There are so many things to get excited about the Red Sea area, but for us, it was the snorkeling. Perhaps one of the best snorkeling locations in the world. We saw an amazing range of colorful tropical fish and corals. The kids loved it, as you could snorkel from the beach in shallow waters so they felt protected and safe.
Cultural – Klezmer Festival August 12 – 14, 2019
A summer favorite in Israel, the Klezmer Festival in northern Safed should not be missed. Focusing on the traditional joyful Jewish music, it attracts several hundred thousand people from all over Europe. The big bonus is that it is all FREE!
The Ancient and the Somber
THE HOLY LAND
For our time devoted to Ancient Jerusalem, we sought out a tour company such as Gil Travel 2019-2020 tours to Israel. They tailor-made our trip according to what we wanted. It was the best Jerusalem tour. We saw all the ancient sites without being rushed.
YAD VASHEM
The most unforgettable experience was the visit to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. The names of the 6 million who lost their lives are recorded. A sobering visit, but one we felt our whole family should witness.
TEL AVIV – Time For Fun
CARMEL MARKET
Finally for some fun and coolness to end our Summer Holiday, Tel Aviv, a city that thrives on excitement and fun. It could be more different from Jerusalem. The Carmel Markets are an absolute delight, to excite your senses. Overflowing with fruit and vegetables, handmade clothing, flowers, pastries, sweets and more.
TEL AVIV BY NIGHT
When the sun goes down, and the lights come up, Tel Aviv becomes electric and caters to just about everyone’s taste. Kuli Alma, The Breakfast Club, Rothschild 12 all come highly recommended for a cool, uber crowd
SUNSET ON THE BEACH
Sadly, we have come to the end of our Summer Holiday in Israel. It’s time to sit and contemplate, all the wonderful times we had. What better way, than to watch the sun go down, over the water on one of the many beautiful beaches of Tel Aviv.
