On Monday, in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, four terrorists were killed after an encounter broke out between the security forces and the militants.
The news agency ANI reported that four terrorists were killed in the encounter between the personnel of the security forces, the Indian Army, Central Reserve Forces, the local police, and the terrorists. The gunfight took place in the Gudder area of Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation is still underway.
The encounter began at the Lowermunda area of Kulgam district on Monday morning. The encounter had the joint forces of the 24 battalion, 18 battalion of the Central reserve forces (CRPF), Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP). The joint troops had launched a search operation that ended up in a gunfight with the militants.
On Saturday, two terrorists and their associates were killed in an encounter carried out by the security forces in the Goripur village of Awantipura in the South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Similarly, on Friday, in a brief encounter, two terrorists were killed and a policeman abducted by them was rescued in the operation at Anantnag region of South Kashmir. The two terrorists had kidnapped the policeman from the Yaripura at the Kulgam district. They were traveling with him when they were intercepted by the security forces.
26 militants neutralized in the month of April, says Army
The identity of the terrorists killed is still uncertain. The investigation to find out which group were they from is also underway. The total number of militants neutralized in the month of April has reached 26 whereas the number this year is 58. The police official who briefed the media following the operation said that,
“The Army has consistently dominated the line of control as well as the hinterland, eliminating the terrorist cadres and their leadership. The Army, therefore, has been successful in developing a positive security environment and the people feel assured about their safety.”
He also added that an army officer had been injured in the operation who has been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
