Reports are coming in that an Air India Express flight crash-landed at the Karipur Airport in Calicut today. It is said that 174 passengers were on board.
The flight was part of the Vande Bharat Mission
Said to be part of the Vande Bharat Mission, the plane carrying 174 passengers overshot the runway and went into a nearby valley. As per the visuals, the fuselage has been broken into two. 15 ambulances have been deployed, and there is no news of any casualties yet. The authorities have also reported that no fire was witnessed. The incident is said to have occurred at around 7:45 pm. The flight number is IX-1344 and as per ANI, there were 6 crew members including 2 pilots. The flight was coming from Dubai.

Rescue operations underway
As per reports, it is raining heavily in Calicut, and amidst this, the rescue operations have started. The COVID-19 restrictions have also seemed to have caused a delay in this process. Nevertheless, the local authorities have not responded yet, and it is likely that a statement from Air India, and the Airport are on the way.
