Via his social-media handle, chairman of Tata Trusts Mr. Ratan Tata has announced a sum of INR 500 Crores to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
COVID-19 has the country in a state of panic
With the number of cases rising every day, there is a state of panic within the country as to what would happen if an Italy-like situation repeats in the country. Although the state and central governments have been doing their best to keep the outbreak under control, there is a general notion amongst the citizens that the big industries start stepping in with their contributions.
While Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani arrived in the picture a couple of days, today, it is the turn of Mr. Ratan Tata.
A relief of INR 500 Crores
Stating the vision of the Tata Trusts to help the country fight the pandemic, Mr. Ratan Tata announced INR 500 crores for:
- Personal Protective Equipment for the medical personnel on the frontlines
- Respiratory systems to treat increasing cases
- Testing kits to increase per capita testing
- Setting up modular treatment facilities for infected patients
- Knowledge management and training of health workers and the general public
The visionary also explained the reasons behind the contribution. He said, ” The situation in India and across the world is of grave concern and needs immediate crisis.” He also reiterated the need for urgent emergency resources that need to be deployed to help fight the crisis.
Mr. Tata further added that the Tata Trusts, Tata Sons and the Tata Group will be committed to fight this crisis on a united public health collaboration platform.
