Coronavirus Mumbai: An Infected 25-Year-Old Mingled With 1,000 Guests At Wedding

In a shocking development, it has been learned that a resident of Dombivili in Maharastra, who has tested positive for COVID-19, had attended a wedding that had close to 1000 guests. The youth’s reports came in on Wednesday.

An employee with an MNC, the 25-year-old had been on a trip with 21 of his friends to Turkey. Reaching home on March 15th, the youth then attended his brother’s wedding four days later in Dombivili.

After the wedding, the youth started showing symptoms of cough and fever, following which he landed at a nearby hospital. Later, he was referred to the Kasturba hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

It is to be noted that the wedding was conducted despite the state government’s notification, which had banned people cluster of more than 50.

The civic agency has sprung into action, tracking all the guests who had been to the function. Till now, as many as 5300 people have been examined for the same. Three members belonging to the youth’s family are undergoing tests at the Kasturba hospital. The 21 friends are also said to be under the scanner at the moment.

Till now, six people have tested positive for the virus in Kalyan-Dombivili city, with two of them already recovered and discharged from the hospital. In the light of the latest developments, it seems the Kalyan-Dombivili Municipal Corporation will have a lot on its plate in the coming days.
