Ever since Deepika Padukone attended the JNU protest regarding an assault on students, the actor has faced a lot of criticism around the country. A lot of people including some BJP members have demanded a ban over the film. Blowing a fresh attack on the film franchise, Laxmi’s lawyer is geared up to file a case against the film.

The movie Chhapaak is written on the real-life incident of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The movie has been directed by Meghna Gulzar and Deepika has supported it as a co-producer. However, ahead of its screening, Chhapaak has landed itself into huge trouble as Laxmi Agarwal’s lawyer, Aparna Bhat has decided to take legal action against the makers for neglecting her character in the film.

Laxmi’s lawyer to take legal action

The lawyer who stewarded Laxmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts has said she will take lawful action as the filmmakers have not mentioned her name in the film or given her credit.

Aparna Bhat, in a Facebook post, said: “Have never been the one to demand attention to my work. Deeply concerned by the turn of events post watching Chhapaak. Forced to take legal action to protect my identity and preserve my sincerity. I represented Lakshmi in her criminal trial in Patiala House Courts… tomorrow someone will represent me in my cause…Ironies of life.”

In another post, she wrote: “I thank all my friends who supported my contribution and challenged team Chhapaak in failing to say even “Thank you!!”. I cannot match the capabilities of these mighty producers of Bollywood but keeping quiet will further support injustice. I have decided to take my cause to the next level. Ready to face the consequences.”

‘Chhapaak’ will hit the theatres on January 10, 2020. The movie will clash horns with Om Raut’s ‘Tanhaji starring Ajay Devgn, and Darbar starring Rajnikanth.
