Three people have been killed in the police firing in Bengaluru where violent riots took place over a Facebook post that was allegedly derogatory against Prophet Muhammad.
The riots had over 60 police personnel injured and some of the journalists were also attacked. The Bengaluru City Police has taken over 100 people into custody in relation to the riots that happened in the East Bengaluru region. As the news traveled, many leaders across political parties have appealed to the citizens to maintain peace and do away with violence.
The Member of Parliament from the Congress party, Shashi Tharoor took to Twitter and shared a photo of a Muslim group protecting a temple in Bengaluru and wrote,
“Those who incited and perpetrated the #bangaloreriots must be found, arrested & given exemplary punishment. But they are not to be equated with an entire community any more than thugs & vigilantes represent all Hindus.”

Tweet Backfires
This tweet of Tharoor has backfired. Many are criticizing the leader for having been selective in his views on different religions. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri wrote,
“Yesterday Mr. Shashi Tharoor was equating @narendramodi’s beard with all Hindus. Today such selectivity. Wow.”
Another leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party BL Santosh wrote,
“Perfectly yes Sir – Your own Party’s Dalit MLA was attacked. Police station destroyed 20 something vehicles burnt. Why general words like incited & perpetrated? Keep the bat straight.”
Here is how Twitter reactions.

More than 3 thousand people were on rampage.
DCP was locked in the room, Police Station was under the control of mob for more than an hour.
Now people can guess, there were few thugs or a community!!

“…thugs & vigilantes represent all Hindus”
You did not need to say that, but you did. Next time you introspect why you people are being rejected by the voters, remember this tweet, Sir https://t.co/DtFK3OD5uV

FFS, standard "Bhatke huye naujawan who were provoked, who are the same as Hindu thugs" response. Whom were they saving the temple from?https://t.co/Z6VETL3rfV

Classic Good Cop-Bad Cop approach by IsIamists. One hand will continue to burn and raze the city and the other hand will stage a drama like this to show themselves as Nobel.
You are a part of a problem if you fall for their propaganda…#bangaloreriotspic.twitter.com/z7RFk4w8Os https://t.co/v4AEkCWEmd
