A research conducted by Gleeden, a dating app, reveals that Bengaluru is India’s infidelity capital with 1.35 lakh recorded extra material affairs. Indeed cheating withstands and both married men and women are indulged.
Infidelity Capital of India
According to a study by Gleeden, it is found that 1.35 lakh Bengalureans have registered on the site, the highest for any city in the country.
According to the dating app, 43,200 women and 91,800 men in the city were viewing for ‘excitement and freedom’ despite being married. Solene Paillet, a Marketing Specialist for Gleeden, says, “It won’t be crazy if we call Bengaluru the ‘infidelity capital’ of India. Out of the total numbers of subscribers on Gleeden, 27% of the total active users are from Bengaluru and the men-women ratio is 32%: 68%.”
The report revealed that the Bengaluru users spend an average of 1.5 hours a day on chat and connect mostly between 12 pm and 3 pm (during and after the lunch break), and between 10 pm and midnight when the husband/wife is distracted or sleeping.
People and their choices
What is even more interesting is that the male users were looking for women between 24 and 30, while women fancied older partners between 31 and 40. The men seemed to be open to everything and mostly look for anything interesting, while women are more careful and mostly preferred practical exchanges.
Shreya Chatterjee, consultant psychologist, Mindscape Clinic feels more than a reflection of the lifestyle of Bengalureans, it could be an indication of the fact that the city has the most tech freak people. “People here use more apps than people in other metros. Which could be the reason for city numbers on the app is so large,” she says.
Some pointed out that it is unfair to call the city the infidelity capital of India since people could be holding affairs in other cities without using the website.’
However, if the number of extra-marital relationships in Bengaluru is really at such a high, Shreya can think of several reasons. “Usually both partners are going to work. So long hours, combined with the long traffic jams in Bengaluru and frequent business trips, can lead to people not spending quality time with their spouse,” she says.
Speaking on women’s extra material affairs in the city, Shreya says “I hardly recall when women have affairs, it is about the revolt. From my knowledge, they go in for this when they are not happy with their marriage. The strong moral, socially-induced moral values that women from previous generations had to live with are not there today, which probably makes it somewhat easier for women,” she says.

Infidelity is a very common habit among humans, it’s hard to know what’s going on in one’s mind. Most people in most cities are usually up to something but the more hidebound regions place limitations that prevent people from doing their escapes.
To be noted, avoiding such habits is not because people are more honest in some cities. It is because honesty is a very individual character and it has a purpose and worth only if the person has clearly understood the connection between him and his partner.
