In a recent ranking, Bengaluru city topped the list with the highest number of self-made crorepatis aka, richie rich in all of India. Keep reading to know more who took the cake and who else followed.
Bengaluru is known for many things-a tech-hub, garden and pub city and now it has another tag added of being the hub for young Richie Riches of India. A recently-released IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2020 that ranks self-made Indian-origin entrepreneurs with a wealth of Rs 1,000 crore, aged 40 years and under. And guess what, Bengaluru tops the chart with the highest number of the richest young entrepreneurs in all of India. The city has as many as 17 in the city with Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath from Zerodha, topping the rank with a staggering wealth of Rs 24,000 crore. * jaw drop*
The list comprises 17 Indian-origin entrepreneurs totalling a total wealth close to Rs 45,000 crores. Securing the second spot is Media.net’s Divyank Turakhia, followed by B2B commerce company, Udaan founders, Amod Malviya and Sujeet Kumar in third place with a wealth of Rs 13,100 crores. Co-founders of Flipkart, Binny and Sachin Bansal ranked 7th on the list with a total of 7,500 crores in their kitty. 39-year-old Devita Saraf wit the only woman on the list who ranked 16th with a wealth of Rs 1,200 crores thanks to her television manufacturing company, Vu Technologies she founded in 2006. And finally, Bangalore based co-founders- Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati who started Ola, ranked at 10 and 14 respectively. So, if you want to be the next richie rich, you know where to head to!
Anas Rahman Junaid, MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India, said, “This will have a compounding effect on the growth of disruptive entrepreneurship in India.” Some of the names on the list have partially or fully exited their core business and are setting up investment funds to back other younger and budding entrepreneurs.
