Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has promised to fix 600 km of the damaged road after social media went all out against the civic body on Wednesday. This decision came in after the citizens went outraged against BBMP for not repairing the damaged roads in the city which were causing trouble for commuters.
BBMP is all set to fix roads
On Wednesday people claimed BBMP to be a terrorist organization that misuses taxpayers money for its good. Many of them even tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to acknowledge him with the situation and help to make the city flawless. For the past years, the civic body has failed to repair the pockmarked and slush-covered stretches, which are slowing down the commuters and causing accidents.
BBMP Commissioner BH Anil Kumar on Wednesday announced that the civic body will take an action plan to restore 630 km of the total 3000 km road where Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board BWSSB has completed the work on drainage and water lines.

The blame game by BBMP
However, Kumar blamed BWSSB for this trouble, “It has done a shoddy job. It dug up roads to lay pipes and threw debris on the roadside, causing inconvenience to citizens. We are already working on this issue,” he said.
On the other hand, BWSSB has claimed to have paid road repair charges to the BBMP. It has overall paid Rs 48 crore as restoration charges of ward roads and Rs 34 crore for arterial and sub-arterial roads. The water utility officials claim to have dug up 2,536 km of roads for laying water pipelines and 528 km for UGD. As per the data shared by BBMP, the civic body has restored 548.04 km of 2,196.91 km of ward roads and 88.88 km of 188.47 km of arterial and sub-arterial roads that were dug up by the BWSSB.
“BWSSB officials claim to have finished 80% of the work of setting water pipelines and 20% of UGD. The entire road can be repaired only after BWSSB completes laying UGD pipelines and gives BBMP an all-clear sign,” sources said.
