Adani group firms on Tuesday made an offer to acquire a 26 percent stake of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) following the indirect acquisition of 29.18 percent shareholding in the media and news broadcaster. Memes flood Twitter in response to reports of Adani buying stakes in NDTV.

Recent reports on the internet indicated that Adani Group’s media company led by Gautam Adani has acquired an approximate 30 percent stake in NDTV. If the reports are true and if the deal comes through, it would mean that the founder-promoters of NDTV, Radhika and Prannoy Roy will take a backseat, thereby making Adani Group the major shareholder.

In the market, the company stock registered a 5% jump today, trading at Rs 376.55. The media report indicates that Founder Prannoy Roy will be left with just 2.6% of the stake in the company.
