We’ve Not Watched Rangitaranga, Vikrant Rona Cheated Us: Hindi Audience

Vikrant Rona, a 3D action-adventure film, and one of the highly anticipated films in Kannada after KGF: Chapter 2 is a disappointing experience for the Hindi audience.

Superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s film Vikrant Rona, which is being touted as yet another pan-India phenomenon, has opened to muted numbers in the Hindi belt. The film has made around Rs 1 crore in the Hindi belt.

Despite Kiccha Sudeep’s swag and flawless acting, the film fails to connect with the audience. This is because of the weak storyline and inaccurate narrative technique adopted by the director. It seems like Anup Bhandari could not come out of Rangitaranga’s influence, even seven years since its release. Kamarottu, Yakshagana, creepy wells, and spooky night drives -if you have seen the filmmaker’s debut film you will know what’s happening around the film.

Remake of Rangitaranga

Several audiences were unhappy with the fact that the film carried the same theme as Anup Bhandari’s previous one. Both the films have no direct connection but they resemble each other in terms of narrative style. Both stories are based on unusual deaths in the thick forests of the Dakshina Kannada region. While in Rangitaranga, the victims are pregnant women, Vikrant Rona deals with the deaths of little children whose bodies are found hanging from trees.

Having said that, Sudeep, of course, has saved the film with his brilliant performance. The actor carried the same swag throughout the film, whether it is action sequences, dialogues, acting, or dance moves.

Here’s what the Hindi audience thinks:

Meanwhile, Vikrant Rona has opened to muted but somewhat solid numbers in the Hindi belt. Outperforming earlier titles such as Vikram, Valimai, Beast, and 777 Charlie — none of which could cross the Rs 50 lakh barrier on day one — Kiccha Sudeep starrer has made around Rs 1 crore in the Hindi belt. The film’s Hindi version was presented by Salman Khan.
