Although not directly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday responded to the Kangana Ranaut-situation in the state. The Shiv Sena leader also talked about the rising COVID-19 cases in the state.

Conspiracy in place to tarnish the state’s reputation

In the televised public address, Mr. Uddhav expressed his views that a conspiracy is being hatched to discredit the people of Maharashtra. He said: “Some people may feel that now coronavirus disease is over and they should start their politics again. I will not talk about politics but there is a conspiracy to discredit Maharashtra.”

He also went on to say: “Whatever political storms come, I will face them… I will fight the coronavirus pandemic too. My silence doesn’t mean that I don’t have answers.”

Shiv Sena and Kangana Ranaut have been engaged in a bitter war of words in recent days. While Kangana compared Mumbai to PoK, Shiv Sena was involved in abusive replies. The government-controlled BMC also demolished a portion of Kangana’s office the day when the actress landed in Mumbai.

COVID-19 cases in the state hits the million mark

The CM focussed more on the COVID situation in the state. The state has already accounted for a million cases, and Uddhav reminded that the situation would become severe in the coming days. He requested the citizens to follow the social distancing norms along with the other precautions to eliminate the chance of catching the virus.
