The Kangana Ranaut vs Shiv Sena saga is going full throttle in recent hours. After Sanjay Raut called Kangana a ‘Haramkhor’, it is now the turn of Shiv Sena leader and Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar to talk about the matter.
The Trigger
Following her comments on the Mumbai Police, Sanjay Raut had slammed Kangana Ranaut for her ‘tracheary’ as she had been living in the city for a long time. He even asked her not to return to the city.
Referring to this, Kangana made controversial remarks about Mumbai by comparing it to ‘PoK’ and ‘Taliban’. The controversy spilled out of control when Sanjay Raut used abusive language against Kangana for disrespecting Maharashtra and Shivaji Raj.
Mumbai Mayor makes her share of comments
However, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar went a step further and hinted at physical violence against the actress. In reply to a tweet by a Marathi actor, Kishori said that girls like Kangana won’t understand in a straightforward manner, and will only listen when ‘beaten up with slippers’.
She added: “Today, the people of Mumbai threw slippers at her(Kangana’s) photo. If they meet her in person, they will beat her with slippers because they will not tolerate the insult of Mumbai and Maharashtra. As it is, this woman does not have faith in the Police which protects citizens day and night.“
Kishori Pednekar’s comment came in response to Amruta Fadnavis’ tweet that one should not suppress others’ freedom of expression. Also, the wife of former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that Kishori Pednekar’s statement of ‘beating with slippers’ is a whole new low.
