Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam Who Tested COVID-19 Positive Is Reportedly Critical, On Life Support

Popular playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been found COVID-19 positive and has been admitted to the hospital. He is reportedly critical and on life support.

The celebrated singer has been admitted to the MGM Healthcare hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for over a week. The hospital releases a statement that reads,

“There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM healthcare for symptoms of COVID since 5th August 2020. In a late-night development on August 13, 2020, his condition has deteriorated. And based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical. He is currently under observation by the team and experts from critical care and his hemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored.”

On August 5th, the singer had announced on his official Facebook page that he has been affected by the novel coronavirus. The singer had put out a video on his social media from the hospital where he spoke about his treatment optimistically and also said he would be discharged soon as he was only suffering from mild symptoms.

Music Fraternity Prays For The Singer

The singer is popular across languages for singing over 40,000 songs in his career. Having his roots in the state of Tamil Nadu, he had a long-standing collaboration with music composer Ilayaraja who together provided several hit songs in different industries. He also has sung several songs in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. In the early 90s, he was the voice for superstar Salman Khan in most of his films.

The music fraternity hopes that the singer comes out of the hospital well and healthy. As of now, the singer remains critical.
