Shiv Sena chief and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray had promised a fund of Rs. 1 crore towards the construction of Ram Temple. However, the trust says they haven’t received a single rupee.
During his previous visit to the city of Ayodhya, Uddhav Thackeray had announced that as a contribution, he would donate Rs. 1 crore towards the construction of the Ram temple. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das spoke to the media and said that all the preparations for the Bhoomi Pujan are done and the construction will begin soon. When the media outlet asked about the contribution announced by the Maharashtra Chief Minister, he said they haven’t received a single rupee yet.
During his visit to Ayodhya, Thackeray had said,
“Today I want to announce that not from the state government, but from my trust, I offer an amount of Rs. 1 crore. I am here to seek blessings of Ram Lalla. I have with me today several members of my ‘Bhagwa’ family. It is my third visit in the last 1.5 years. I will also offer prayers today.”
Further, in his speech, he launched an attack on the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party and said,
“I have parted ways with the BJP, not with Hindutva. The BJP is not Hindutva. Hindutva is a different thing and I have not parted ways with it.”
Owaisi Criticises Modi
Member of Parliament from Hyderabad and the chief of All India Majilis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the Prime Minister for visiting the Bhoomi Puja ceremony of Ayodhya Temple.
He also questioned the Prime Minister whether he would be attending in a personal capacity or as the Prime Minister of India. He also warned that the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya would open a Pandora’s box as many would now start reclaiming disputed religious land in Mathura and Kashi. He said,
“The Prime Minister should tell the country if he is attending in an individual capacity or as the Prime Minister. If he is going as the Prime Minister, it violates the cause of secularism, which is the basic structure of the Constitution.”
