A few days ago, an incident came to light in Kerala, wherein a pregnant elephant passed away after taking a bite at a pineapple filled with crackers. The entire country opposed the brutal killing of the animal and called for punishment for the offenders.
Now, just a few days after the incident, a similar episode has come to the attention in Himachal’s Bilaspur. In this event, it is a pregnant cow that is the victim.
The Himachal Incident
A pregnant cow’s jaw was severely injured after being fed wheat dough stuffed with firecrackers in Jhandutta area of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh. The incident came to light when the cow’s owner Gurdayal Singh uploaded a video of the injured animal on social media.
The owner said that one of his neighbors, Nand Lal, had fed his cow the dough balls stuffed with firecrackers while the animal was grazing in the field. After the video went viral and netizens started demanding strict action, the police arrested the accused on Saturday.
A case under Section 286 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered. It is said that the cow was fed a highly explosive firecracker called the ‘aalu bomb’.
